DoorDash Benefits Across Chase Cards: Reserve, Preferred, Freedom Flex, and Freedom Unlimited
DoorDash Benefits Across Chase Cards: Reserve, Preferred, Freedom Flex, and Freedom Unlimited
Chase went all-in on DoorDash. Four cards carry some version of it — monthly promos, quarterly promos, free DashPass memberships — and every version has the same two catches: you have to activate DashPass for any of it to work, and all of it expires at the end of 2027. Here's the card-by-card breakdown.
What DoorDash benefits does the Sapphire Reserve include?
The Chase Sapphire Reserve includes $25/month in DoorDash promos ($300/year): one $5 promo for restaurant orders plus two $10 promos for grocery, convenience, and retail orders — plus a complimentary DashPass membership (normally ~$120/year). All of it runs through December 31, 2027. DashPass activation is required — via DoorDash or Chase.
How to use it: Activate DashPass once. Then use the promos monthly. The practical move: set a recurring monthly grocery order and let one $10 promo absorb into it automatically, then use the restaurant and second grocery promos on whatever comes up.
One thing to ignore: a 2026 source claimed these promos rise to $420 a year. We couldn't verify that against Chase, so we're not listing it. Count on $300.
What DoorDash benefits does the Sapphire Preferred include?
The Chase Sapphire Preferred includes a $10/month DoorDash grocery promo ($120/year): $10 off one grocery or convenience order per calendar month — plus a free DashPass membership. All of it runs through December 31, 2027. DashPass activation is required (activate by December 31, 2027).
How to use it: Activate DashPass once, route one grocery order a month through DoorDash. $120 a year — more than the card's $95 annual fee, from this benefit alone.
Don't confuse the two cards: the Preferred gets the grocery promo only. The Reserve's $5 restaurant promo doesn't exist on the Preferred.
What DoorDash benefits does the Freedom Flex include?
The Chase Freedom Flex includes a $10/quarter DoorDash grocery promo ($40/year): $10 off one grocery or convenience order per calendar quarter (not month — quarter) — plus 6 months of free DashPass, but only for activations on or after February 1, 2025. All of it runs through December 31, 2027. Activation is required.
How to use it: Activate DashPass, use the $10 promo once per quarter. Four $10 promos a year = $40. Small, but the card has no annual fee, so it's $40 of free money for one activation.
What DoorDash benefits does the Freedom Unlimited include?
The Chase Freedom Unlimited's DoorDash benefits are identical to the Freedom Flex: a $10/quarter DoorDash grocery promo ($40/year) — $10 off one grocery or convenience order per quarter — plus 6 months of free DashPass for activations on or after February 1, 2025, through December 31, 2027. Activation is required.
Are Chase DoorDash benefits worth it?
Against the annual fees, the promos alone often justify themselves — the Preferred's $120 in promos beats its $95 fee, and the Freedom cards are $40 of free money on no-fee cards. The honest test: do you order monthly?
| Card | Annual fee | DoorDash value/yr | Worth it? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sapphire Reserve | $795 | $300 promos + ~$120 DashPass | Yes, if you order monthly |
| Sapphire Preferred | $95 | $120 promos + ~$120 DashPass | Yes — promos alone beat the fee |
| Freedom Flex | $0 | $40 promos + 6 mo DashPass | Free money |
| Freedom Unlimited | $0 | $40 promos + 6 mo DashPass | Free money |
What are the biggest Chase DoorDash traps?
The four biggest traps: nothing works until you activate DashPass (one activation unlocks all of it), monthly and quarterly promos don't roll over (unused promos vanish), DashPass auto-enrolls at full price when the free period ends (set a reminder for late 2027), and everything ends on December 31, 2027 — don't build your 2028 card math on any of this.
- Nothing works until you activate DashPass. Not the promos, not the membership. One activation unlocks all of it — do it the day you get the card.
- Monthly and quarterly promos don't roll over. The Reserve's three promos reset every month; the Freedom cards' single promo resets every quarter. Unused promos vanish.
- DashPass auto-enrolls at full price when the free period ends. This is the expensive trap. The Reserve and Preferred's free DashPass runs through December 31, 2027 — after that, you're paying monthly unless you cancel. The Freedom cards' 6-month trial converts even sooner. Set a reminder for late 2027 (or 6 months after you activate on a Freedom card) and decide then.
- It all ends December 31, 2027. Every DoorDash benefit on every Chase card has the same sunset date. Don't build your 2028 card math on any of this.
