Amex Gold Benefits: Getting the $325 Fee Back in Dining, Uber, and Dunkin' Credits

Amex Gold Benefits: Getting the $325 Fee Back in Dining, Uber, and Dunkin' Credits

The Amex Gold is the rare premium card whose credits match how normal people actually spend: takeout, rideshares, and coffee. The fee is $325. The credits total about $524 a year on paper. Whether you beat the fee comes down to one question: do you already spend at these merchants?

What credits does the Amex Gold offer?

The Amex Gold offers five credits worth $524 per year: a $120 dining credit, $120 in Uber Cash, an $84 Dunkin' credit, a $100 Resy credit, and a $100 Hotel Collection credit. Three of the five credits are monthly, and every credit requires enrollment.

How much is the Amex Gold dining credit per month?

The Amex Gold dining credit is worth up to $120 per year, paid as $10 per month with no rollover. It works at Grubhub (including Seamless), Buffalo Wild Wings, Five Guys, The Cheesecake Factory, and Wonder. Enrollment is required.

How to use it: Order Grubhub once a month and pay with the Gold. That's it. One $10 order covers it — but a $9.50 order leaves 50 cents dead, and skipping a month leaves the full $10 unclaimed.

Watch out: the merchant lineup changed on April 30, 2026. Wine.com and Goldbelly are out; Buffalo Wild Wings and Wonder are in. If you're working off an old blog post, your info is stale.

How much Uber Cash does the Amex Gold give?

The Amex Gold gives $10 in Uber Cash per month — $120 per year — with no rollover. It covers U.S. Uber rides and Uber Eats orders. You must add the card to your Uber account.

How to use it: Add the card once, then spend the $10 before month-end. If you take even one Uber a month, this is automatic money.

How much is the Amex Gold Dunkin' credit?

The Amex Gold Dunkin' credit is worth up to $84 per year, paid as $7 per month with no rollover. It works at U.S. Dunkin' locations. Enrollment is required.

How to use it: If you buy coffee at Dunkin' anyway, put it on the Gold. Two coffees a month covers it. If you're a Starbucks person, this credit is worth $0 to you — don't pretend otherwise.

How does the Amex Gold Resy credit work?

The Amex Gold Resy credit is worth up to $100 per year, paid as $50 per half-year. It covers eligible U.S. Resy restaurant purchases paid with the card. Enrollment is required.

How to use it: One dinner per half-year at a Resy restaurant. Easier than it sounds in any decent-sized city.

How much is the Amex Gold Hotel Collection credit?

The Amex Gold Hotel Collection credit is worth $100 per year. It covers prepaid bookings at The Hotel Collection through Amex Travel, with a 2-night minimum.

How to use it: One qualifying two-night stay a year. If you don't book hotels through Amex Travel, skip it in your math.

Is the Amex Gold worth the $325 annual fee?

The Amex Gold is worth the $325 annual fee if you already order delivery and drink Dunkin': using everything puts you $199 ahead ($524 in credits minus the fee), and a realistic capture of $424 still beats the fee by about $100. If you do neither, the fee eats you.

Credit If you use it fully
Dining ($120) $120
Uber Cash ($120) $120
Dunkin' ($84) $84
Resy ($100) $100
Hotel Collection ($100) $100
Total $524

Minus the $325 fee, that's $199 ahead — if you use everything. More realistic: most people capture the dining, Uber, and Dunkin' credits ($324) because they're monthly habits, grab the Resy credit ($100), and miss the hotel credit. That's $424 against a $325 fee — still ahead by about $100, plus whatever points you earn.

The honest version: this card pays for itself if you order delivery and drink Dunkin'. If you do neither, the fee eats you.

What are the Amex Gold traps to watch out for?

The four Amex Gold traps are forgetting enrollment, losing monthly credits to the no-rollover rule, forgetting the Resy credit's second half, and working off stale merchant lists.

  1. Every credit needs enrollment. Not one of them works until you activate it in your Amex account. Day-one task.
  2. Three of the five credits are monthly. $10 dining + $10 Uber + $7 Dunkin' = $27 a month that vanishes if you forget. That's $324 a year riding on a monthly habit.
  3. The Resy credit is semi-annual. $50 per half-year — easy to forget the second half exists.
  4. Merchant lineups change. The April 2026 dining refresh swapped two merchants out. Check the current list once a year.

What is the 5-minute monthly Amex Gold routine?

Once a month, on the same day: open the Gold's benefit page, confirm the $10 dining, $10 Uber, and $7 Dunkin' credits posted, and spend any unused Uber Cash or dining credit before the month flips. Five minutes, $27 protected.
